Hiding in Plain Sight

Mental health is our birthright. Mental health is innate. We can’t lose our natural mental health, only lose sight of it. Mental health is a spiritual fact; it is intrinsic to human nature. Those of us who are practitioners of Innate Health know that, and when we say it from the depths of our own knowledge, it resonates with people. Yet, somehow, it remains elusive. The immutable truth of it, the inarguable fact of mental health, never harmed, never lost, is still hiding in plain sight. We are operating in a system...

One Problem; One Solution

A beautiful thing happened the last weekend in May, thanks to those with the vision to hold the first “One Solution” conference in Oslo, Norway. In one weekend, they elevated onto the world stage the absolute simplicity and power of the answer offered by a true understanding of how the mind works. Although I could not attend because of a commitment, I watched what I could of the live stream, and, on the very first night, I had an Aha! moment about all of us (“all of us” being the handful...

Feeling Our Way through Life

People seek help from counselors when they feel bad. No one has ever come into a session with me to complain about their thinking. They come in to say, “I’m really depressed.” “I’m sad and I can’t seem to get over it.” “I am so anxious that I can’t concentrate.” “I get so angry I feel like hitting my children.” That kind of statement. So, intuitively, we know that bad feelings are a sign that we need help. But we believe the bad feelings are coming from the events, people and...

True Change: Beyond the Illusion

We all change a lot over time. We grow from babyhood through childhood and adulthood to old age, with all the physical and mental changes that accompany life stages. We gain and lose weight. We get in shape; we get out of shape. We change our hair. We adopt new styles. We change locations. We change relationships. We change professions. We change financial status. We change our preferences. We change our politics. We change our reading habits. We change our minds in the face of new information. Those "changes" are all illusions...

Spiritual? Practical? Both?

During a recent webinar, a participant thanked me for sharing "the practical" side of the Three Principles, mentioning that she had recently been exposed to a different speaker who focused on "the spiritual". It had never before occurred to me to make that distinction when discussing the Principles of Mind, Consciousness and Thought. To me, the universal, spiritual truth of the Principles is exactly what makes them practical. So I've been reflecting on that. How could I do better at assuring that point is obvious? Why does clarity about a spiritual truth lead to...

Why teach the innate?

If every living person, no exceptions, has innate health, why would we feel the need to share or teach the Principles that point people in that direction? Doesn't "innate" imply you already know it? To be honest, that  nagged at me for a while when I first started in this work. I saw how much all of us were helping people out of psychological distress by describing the Principles of Mind, Consciousness and Thought at work, but I had difficulty reconciling that with the idea of innate health. Oh, yes, we told people that we're...
